Wilkes Basketball Welcomes Arcadia in MAC Freedom Home Contest

WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University women's and men's basketball teams return back to home court as they look to get back on track in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) competition as they welcome Arcadia University this Saturday inside the Marts Center. The women's game will begin at 1:00 p.m. as they look to recognize their seniors on Senior Day. The men's game will play at 3:00 p.m.

Women's Preview:
Wilkes comes into the game with a 6-16 record on the season, holding a 5-8 conference record in the MAC Freedom this season. Wilkes comes in with a 3-8 record at home, dropping their last two contests when hosting teams. Wilkes dropped their last contest to Misericordia University 71-64 in overtime on Wednesday night. The Colonels last contest against Arcadia was on January 7, where Wilkes fell to the Knights 71-60.
 
Yamirelis Matos (Springfield, MA/Chicopee) leads the Colonels in scoring with 9.0 points-per-game (ppg) which is tied for 15th in the MAC Freedom. Brenna Babcock (Sweet Valley, PA/Northwest Area) is second on the team with 6.8 ppg and Brianna Horton (Verona, NJ/Verona) is third with 5.7 ppg.
 
Matos leads Wilkes with 4.2 rpg. Babcock is second with 4.1 rebounds-per-game (rpg) while Horton is third with 3.7. Julia Marino (Washington Township, NJ/Washington Township) is tied for fourth in the MAC Freedom with 2.8 assists-per-game (apg), totaling 61 on the season.
 
Marino leads Wilkes with 50 steals, tied for fourth in the conference with 2.3 steals-per-game (spg). Matos follows behind with 36 steals and is 13th in the MAC Freedom with 1.7 spg. Erin Shober (Reading, PA/Wilson) is sixth in the league with 1.3 blocks-per-game (bpg) with 27 total blocks this season.
 
Wilkes is seventh in the MAC Freedom in scoring offense at 51.5 ppg and fifth in scoring defense at 57.9 ppg.
 
Arcadia is 14-9 on the season 7-7 in the MAC Freedom. The Knights are 7-5 on the road this year, winning four of their last five contests when going to other team's home courts. Arcadia dropped their last contest to No. 19 Stevens Institute of Technology 72-36.
 
Hanna Rhoades leads Arcadia with 11.4 ppg, placing her eighth in the conference. Scarlett Glasser-Nehls is second on the team with 8.8 ppg. Mara Weaver and Dayna Balasa round out the scoring with 7.5 and 7.3 ppg respectively.
 
Delaney Bell is second in the conference with 8.7 rpg while Weaver follows behind as she is 11th in the MAC Freedom with 6.4 rpg. Bell also leads the team with 3.0 apg, tying her for fourth in the conference. Beam is tied for 13th in the conference with 1.7 spg while Weaver is fifth in the MAC Freedom with 1.5 bpg.

Bondi is 12th in the conference for field goal percentage, shooting 35.7% this season.

Arcadia is fifth in the MAC Freedom in scoring offense with 51.5 ppg and fourth in scoring defense at 54.1 ppg.

Men's Preview:
Wilkes comes into the contest with an 11-11 overall record and 6-7 in MAC Freedom play. Wilkes enters this game falling to Misericordia 71-64 on the road this past Wednesday. In the last matchup against Arcadia, the Colonels took a 76-70 victory over the Knights inside Alumni Gymnasium on January 11th.
 
Trent Fisher (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge) leads the Colonels in scoring with 12.7 ppg, which puts him 11th in the MAC Freedom. Drake Marshall (Gainesville, VA/Patriot) follows behind on the team and in the conference as he places 12th in the conference as he averages 12.4 ppg, with Cayden Merrifield (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) being third with 10.7 ppg. Lucas Lesko (Northampton, PA/Northampton) and Joey Zvorsky (New Cumberland, PA/Cedar Cliff) round out the Colonels scorers with 9.3 and 7.9 respectively. Lesko scored 28 points while Merrifield had a career-high 25 points in their last matchup against the Knights.
 
Fisher is fourth in the conference with 7.6 rpg as he leads the Colonels in that category. Marshall follows with 5.8 rpg which is tied for 11th in the league. Merrifield is tied for second in the conference with 3.4 apg while Zvorsky is tied for 10th with 2.8 apg.

Merrifield is third in the conference with a 40.0% from beyond the arc with his 42 made three-pointers. Fisher is third in the conference with a .561 field goal percentage and fifth with 1.4 bpg. Zvorsky is 11th in the MAC Freedon with 1.3 spg, while Merrifield and Fisher follow suit in the conference with 1.2 and 1.1 spg respectively.
 
Wilkes is fourth in the MAC Freedom in scoring offense with 69.9 ppg while ranking second in scoring defense at 64.5 ppg, which is 37th overall out of 413 Division III teams currently.
 
Arcadia enters with a 11-11 overall record this season with a 7-7 conference record. The Knights are 6-5 on the road this season, losing their last road matchup against King's College 68-59 on Wednesday.
 
Jalen Watkins leads the MAC Freedom in scoring as he averages 18.2 ppg. Justin Money is second on the team with 13.5 ppg, placing him sixth in the conference. Nas Johnson and Dom Vasquez round out the scoring with 12.6 ppg and 11.8 ppg respectively.
 
Watkins leads the Knights and the MAC Freedom with 12.0 rpg. Vasquez is tied for second in the conference as he averages 3.5 apg as he has 77 assists on the season. Watkins is third in the MAC Freedom with 1.7 bpg while Vasquez and Darius Isaac are tied for the team lead with 1.0 spg.
 
Watkins is ranked second in the conference in field goal percentage, shooting 58.9%. Money is fourth in the MAC Freedom with a .393 three-point percentage as he is 42-for-107 on the year.
 
Arcadia is seventh in the MAC Freedom in scoring with 66.5 ppg and fourth in scoring defense with 66.2 ppg.
 
The Knights leads the series 3-2 since the 20-21 season.
