Wilkes Women's Basketball Beaten at Delaware Valley for MAC Freedom Tournament Berth

NEW BRITAIN, PA – In a win-and-in regular season finale, host Delaware Valley University earned the fourth seed in the upcoming Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) tournament as the Aggies defeated the Wilkes University women's basketball team 70-31 at James Work Gymnasium Saturday afternoon.

Wilkes saw its season end with a 7-9 record in the MAC Freedom and 8-17 overall record. Delaware Valley improved to 8-8 in the league and 12-13 overall.

The Aggies raced out to a 17-0 lead and led 23-7 at the end of the first quarter. It was a hole that the Colonels were unable to work back from. Wilkes was able to score 12 points in the second quarter but DelVal added 16 more to lead 39-19 at halftime.

A strong third and fourth quarter by the hosts clinched their spot in the postseason.

Reagan Holden (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Wilkes-Barre Area) led Wilkes with five points. Ariel Reed (Woodbury, PA/Northern Bedford) had five rebounds, Erin Shober (Reading, PA/Wilson) three blocks, and Julianna Askins (Carlisle, PA/Carlisle) three steals to lead Wilkes in those categories.

Haley Keenan led Delaware Valley with 26 points as she was 9-for-17 from the field and 7-for-10 from the free throw line. Maisie Neuber had 11 rebounds.

The Colonels will now transition to the Landmark Conference next season as Saturday's game marked the final Wilkes game within the MAC.
