Neumann Runs Past Wilkes Men's Lacrosse 10-2
 
EDWARDSVILLE – Visiting Neumann University broke open a tied game after one quarter scoring four unanswered goals in the second then outscored the Wilkes University men's lacrosse team 6-2 over the final two frames on way to a 10-2 non-conference victory Saturday afternoon at Schmidt Stadium.
 
Wilkes fell to 0-3 on the young season while Neumann evened its overall record at 2-2.
 
After a scoreless first quarter, Neumann scored four straight goals over the second 15 minutes of play including two strikes from Dalton Hofmann.
 
Matthew Warns (Cutchogue, NY/Mattituck) notched his first goal of the season when he deposited a shot past the Knights goalie thanks to an assist from Colby Opromolla (Patterson, NY/Carmel) with 10:12 left in the third quarter.
 
Neumann added two more goals in the third before Dillon Kadis (McSherrystown, PA/Delone Catholic) ripped a shot home to cut the Knights lead to 6-2 after three.
 
Neumann then put the game out of reach with four consecutive goals in the fourth quarter including two of his game-high three tallies from Brendan Boschi.
 
Neumann held a 45-19 shot advantage including 36-8  in shots on goal. Wilkes was unable to move the ball consistently through the midfield to the scoring end finishing with a season-high 46 turnovers on the day.
 
Joseph Marino (Swedesboro, NJ/Kingsway Regional) made several point-blank saves to keep things close throughout finishing with a career-high 26 saves in the loss. Jake Marchiafava posted six saves to record the victory in goal for Neumann.
 
The Colonels return to play Saturday when they travel to Rosemont College for a 2:00 p.m. non-conference contest.
