Kozlowski, Kadis Power Wilkes Men's Lacrosse to First Win of Season

ROSEMONT, PA – Joseph Kozlowski (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) and Dillon Kadis (McSherrystown, PA/Delone Catholic) combined for 10 points to lead the Wilkes University men's lacrosse team to its first win of the 2023 season as the Colonels powered past host Rosemont College 15-8 Saturday afternoon.

Wilkes improved to 1-3 overall following the road victory while Rosemont remained winless standing 0-4 on the season.

Rosemont took an early 2-1 lead with just under nine minutes left in the first quarter before the Colonels answered back tying and taking the lead four minutes later. Tim Hartka (Phoenix, MD/Calvert Hall) and Colby Opromolla (Patterson, NY/Carmel) scored back-to-back to give Wilkes a 3-2 advantage it would never relinquish. Luke Weakland (Sparks, MD/Hereford) and Kadis rounded out the five=goal first stanza as Wilkes led by three after one.

Kozlowski notched the first of his three goals midway through the second quarter before Jacob Kudysch (Stratford, CT/Frank Scott Bunnell) pushed the advantage to 7-2 at the break.

Kadis then added two more goals in a six-goal third quarter for Wilkes before notching his game-high fifth strike in the fourth as the Colonels outscored Rosemont in all but the final frame of play.

Wilkes held a 66-28 shot advantage including 38-17 on goal. The Colonels also took care of the ball on their offensive end committing only 18 turnovers to Rosemont's 22 miscues. The face-off circle was also a huge advantage for Wilkes winning 21-of-27 attempts in the contest.

Kowlowski finished with three goals and two assists while Kadis fired in a team-best five goals to lead the Colonels attack. Harka followed with two goals and a helper while Austin Seames (Newton, NJ/Kittatinny Regional) posted one goal and two assists. In total, ten different Colonels reached the point column in the road win.

Joseph Marino (Swedesboro, NJ/Kingsway Regional) played 46:55 in goal to record the win for Wilkes making seven saves.

Wilkes returns home Tuesday when the Colonels welcome local foe Marywood University for a 4:00 p.m. matchup at Schmidt Stadium.
