Wilkes Women's Ice Hockey Opens Final Non-Conference Series with 2-0 Setback Against Worcester State
WILKES-BARRE – Visiting Worcester State scored two first period goals on way to a 2-0 shutout victory over the Wilkes University women's ice hockey team Friday night at the Toyota SportsPlex.
Wilkes dropped to 4-14-2 overall while Worcester State improved to 13-6-1 overall on the season.
Shelby Reaugh scored the first goal for the Lancers 17:44 into the first period. Clare Conway pushed the lead to 2-0 :48 later when she found the back of the net on the power-play to end the scoring in the frame.
Worcester held a 42-21 shot advantage in the contest. Wilkes was unable to capitalize on its three power-play opportunities while Worcester went 1-for-6 on the man-advantage.
Addy Olson (Naples, FL/) finished with 40 saves in net for the Colonels. Amber Lee stopped all 21 shots to earn the shutout for the Lancers.
Both teams conclude the two-game set Saturday with another matchup at 3:30 p.m. at the Toyota SportsPlex.
