Wilkes Women's Lacrosse Falls to Neumann in Non-Conference Matchup
 
EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University women's lacrosse team fell 17-2 against the Neumann University Knights during a non-conference matchup at Schmidt Stadium on Wednesday evening.
 
The Colonels move to 3-4 on the season and the Knights improve to 4-1 overall.
 
Wilkes was able to get three shots in the first quarter, one from Sydney Bernardi (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady) and two from Breanne Fulling (Hyde Park, NY/Franklin D. Roosevelt). Goalkeeper Samantha Scott (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) had four saves on eight shots on goal.
 
Neumann had four goals in the first quarter on 11 shots and goalkeeper Catriona Corrigan had one save.
 
In the second quarter, the Colonels were able to score twice. The first goal came from Fulling on a free position shot and the second goal came from Hannah Hart, also on a free position. Wilkes had four shots in the quarter from Brooklyn Pedana (Pittston, PA/Pittston Area), Abigail Barcless, Fulling, and Hart. Scott added two saves in the period.
 
The Knights had eight goals in the second quarter on 13 shots. Corrigan added one save.
 
The Colonels had three shots in the third quarter from Hart, Fulling, and Sam Mullen (Dover, PA/York Catholic). Scott added two saves on three shots on goal.
 
Neumann had one goal in the third quarter on six shots and Corrigan added two saves.
 
Wilkes had one shot in the fourth quarter which came from Hart on a free position. Scott had two saves in the quarter.
 
The Knights had four goals on six shots in the fourth quarter and Corrigan had one save.
 
The Colonels had a total of 11 shots in the game led by Fulling with four and three on goal and Hart with three and two on goal. Scott had a total of 10 saves in the game. Wilkes was 7-18 on clears and had seven draw controls along with 13 ground balls.
 
Neumann had 36 shots in the game and had a total of five saves. The Knights were 13-15 on clears and had 13 draw controls along with 19 ground balls.
 
The Wilkes women's lacrosse team returns to action on Tuesday when they host Manhattanville College for a 5:00 p.m. non-conference game.
