Wilkes Women's Tennis Hands Pratt First Loss of Season
KINGSTON, PA – The Wilkes University women's tennis team raced out to a 2-1 lead after doubles, then claimed five of six in singles play to hand visiting Pratt Institute its first loss of the season as the Colonels posted a 7-2 non-conference victory Saturday afternoon at TK Academy.
Wilkes recorded its first win of the year improving to 1-2 overall while Pratt fell to 8-1 on the season.
Wilkes took wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles as the pairs of
Cassidy Greenman (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees) and
Zoe Klein (Southbury, CT/Pomperaug) won 8-6 in the top spot and
Kaitlyn O'Neil (Jim Thorpe, PA/Jim Thorpe) and
Tea Amerise (Mountain Top, PA/Holy Redeemer) were victorious 8-2 in the second position.
Amerise made it 3-1 Wilkes with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles and
Sydney Farmer (Lacey Township, NJ/Lacey Township) won 1-6, 6-1, 10-7 at No. 6 to push the advantage to 4-1. Greenman then clinched the match with a straight set 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 2.
Klein and O'Neil rounded out the Colonels singles winners taking their matches at No. 3 and 4 respectively.
The Colonels are back on the court Tuesday with a road matchup at Lebanon Valley College at 3:30 p.m.
