Wilkes Women's Tennis Earns 6-3 Victory Over King's in MAC Freedom Match
EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University women's tennis team recorded its third Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom victory with a 6-3 victory over cross-town rival King's College Wednesday afternoon at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
Wilkes moved to 4-4 overall and 3-1 in MAC Freedom matches. King's dropped to 4-8 overall and 1-3 in league contests.
Wilkes led 2-1 after doubles play thanks to wins from No. 2 pair of
Cassidy Greenman (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees) and
Kaitlyn O'Neil (Jim Thorpe, PA/Jim Thorpe) 8-3 and No. 3 pair
Zoe Klein (Southbury, CT/Pomperaug) and
Karlee Yuscavage (Hanover Twp., PA/Hanover Area) 8-1.
Tea Amerise (Mountain Top, PA/Holy Redeemer) took her No. 1 singles match 6-1, 6-1 before a straight set win for Greenman at No. 3 6-0, 6-2. O'Neil took her No. 4 singles match 6-3, 6-0 and Yuscavage rounded out the singles winners for the Colonels with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 6.
Wilkes is back in conference action Saturday when the Colonels travel to Center Valley, Pa. for a MAC Freedom match at DeSales University starting at 12:00 p.m.
