Wilkes Women's Lacrosse Falls to Misericordia
DALLAS, PA – The Wilkes University women's lacrosse team were on the road where they would fall 18-2 to Misericordia University in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) action on Wednesday night.
The Colonels would drop to 3-11 this year and 0-5 in the conference. The Cougars would improve to 7-7 and 4-1 in MAC Freedom competition.
The Cougars would jump out to a quick three goal lead less than five minutes into the matchup. Wilkes would get their first goal in the game as Breanne Fulling (Hyde Park, NY/Franklin D. Roosevelt) at the 10:12 mark to make it 3-1. Misericordia would continue their attack as they would four goals to finish the first quarter with a 7-1 lead. The Cougars would have 14 shots, while the Colonels only took two in the first period. Wilkes would get outpaced in groundballs as they had 4 to Misericordia seven.
Misericordia would get five goals in the second quarter and three goals in the third. Wilkes outshoot Misericordia in the second 7-6, but the Cougars had seven shots in the third while the Colonels only had three.
Misericordia would get two more goals in the first two minutes of the game to build their lead up 17-1. Sydney Bernardi (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady) would get a goal at the 8:52 mark, but another Cougars goal would push Misericordia over Wilkes 18-2. The Cougars would outshoot Wilkes 35-15 and have advantage in ground balls 18-15.
Fulling and Bernardi would each have a goal while Emilee Magill (North Prairie, WI/Kettle Moraine Global) earned an assist. Samantha Scott (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) would record six saves on the night. Madelyn Uetz would have 10 saves on the night.
Wilkes returns back to home to Schmidt Stadium as they host FDU-Florham in MAC Freedom action on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
