Wilkes Women's Tennis Sweeps FDU-Florham 9-0
MADISON, NJ – The Wilkes University women's tennis team earned a 9-0 sweep of the FDU-Florham Devils on Saturday afternoon during a Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) match.
The Colonels move to 6-5 overall and finish 5-2 in conference play for the regular season, earning the No. 3 seed in the upcoming MAC Freedom Tournament. The Devils fall to 1-10 on the season and 0-7 in the MAC Freedom.
The team of
Tea Amerise (Mountain Top, PA/Holy Redeemer) and
Kaitlyn O'Neil (Jim Thorpe, PA/Jim Thorpe) was up first in doubles and claimed their match 8-7.
Cassidy Greenman (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees) and
Sydney Farmer (Lacey Township, NJ/Lacey Township) were up next and claimed their match 8-1. To finish out the doubles matches, the team of
Karlee Yuscavage (Hanover Twp., PA/Hanover Area) and
Zoe Klein (Southbury, CT/Pomperaug) won their match 8-0.
Greenman held down the No. 1 slot in singles and won her sets 6-3 and 6-1. Amerise was up next in the No. 2 slot and won both of her sets 6-0. Klein secured the No. 3 slot in singles matches, winning both of her sets 6-1. The No.4 slot was won by O'Neil claiming her sets 6-3 and 6-4. Farmer was in the No. 5 slot and Yuscavage was in the No. 6 slot, and both won their matches winning their sets 6-0.
The Wilkes women's tennis team returns to action tomorrow when they travel to Scranton, Pa. to take on the University of Scranton for a 12:00 p.m. non-conference match.
