Wilkes Women's Tennis Wins Two-of-Three Doubles but Drops Match 6-3 at Scranton
SCRANTON, PA – The Wilkes University women's tennis team won two of the three doubles matchups but dropped five of the six singles matches to lose 6-3 at the University of Scranton in a non-conference match Sunday afternoon at the Royal Courts.
Wilkes dropped to 6-6 overall with the loss while Scranton improved to 9-8 overall.
Cassidy Greenman (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees) and
Karlee Yuscavage (Hanover Twp., PA/Hanover Area) won 8-3 at No. 2 doubles and
Kaitlyn O'Neil (Jim Thorpe, PA/Jim Thorpe) and
Zoe Klein (Southbury, CT/Pomperaug) put the Colonels ahead 2-1 after doubles play with an 8-7 (7-3) win at No. 3 doubles.
Tea Amerise (Mountain Top, PA/Holy Redeemer) won her No. 2 singles match 6-0, 6-0 but the Royals won the other five singles matches to win the match 6-3.
The Colonels close out the regular season on Tuesday with a non-conference match at Dickinson College at 3:30 p.m. in a final tune up before facing second seeded Misericordia University in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom semifinals on Wednesday. Wilkes earned the No. 3 seed with a 5-2 conference record.
