Wilkes Women's Tennis Earns MAC Freedom Win Over Arcadia
EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University women's tennis teams won all of their matches as they earned a 9-0 Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) win over Arcadia University in Saturday afternoon competition.
The Colonels would improve to 3-4 this season and 2-1 in the conference. The Knights would fall to 1-5 on the year and drop to 0-3 in MAC Freedom competition.
Each Colonel would win their doubles matches. Sydney Farmer (Lacey Township, NJ/Lacey Township) and Tea Amerise (Mountain Top, PA/Holy Redeemer) would win in the No.1 slot 8-5. Kaitlyn O'Neil (Jim Thorpe, PA/Jim Thorpe) and Cassidy Greenman (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees) would earn a tie breaker victory in the No.2 slot 8-7 (7-3) while Zoe Klein (Southbury, CT/Pomperaug) and Karlee Yuscavage (Hanover Twp., PA/Hanover Area) scored a tie breaking win in the No.3 slot 8-7 (7-5).
Wilkes would then proceed to take all six singles matches as Amerise would win the first set 6-0, fall in the second set 7-5, then win the third set 10-8 in the No.1 spot. Greenman would take the No.2 position win 7-5, 6-4 while Klein would win in two sets in the No.3 slot 6-2, 6-0. O'Neil would win the No.4 spot 6-2, 6-1, while Farmer earned each point in a 6-0, 6-0 two set victory in the No.5 slot. Yuscavage would end the day with a 6-3, 6-4 win at the No.6 spot to secure the sweep for the Colonels.
Wilkes will return to the Ralston Athletic Complex when they host cross town rival King's College in MAC Freedom action that begins at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
