Wilkes Women's Ice Hockey Loses First Game of the New Year at No. 13 Nazareth 3-0
ROCHESTER, NY – No. 13 ranked Nazareth University defeated the Wilkes women's ice hockey team in their first game back from the holiday break, taking game one of a two-game UCHC series 3-0.
The Colonels fall to 6-5-1 overall with the loss and now hold a 4-5-1 record in UCHC play, while the Golden Flyers improve to 6-4-1 overall and 6-0-1 in conference play.
Nazareth opened the scoring seven minutes into the first period and added two more unanswered goals in the second frame to take the victory.
Emma Swansburg (Shelburne, NS/Shelburne Regional) led the way in net for the Colonels with 27 saves in the contest.
Haylee Bouchard (Sioux Lookout, ON) led the team with six shots, while
Jordan Ferry (Bohemia, NY) won five of seven from the faceoff circle.
The Colonels and Golden Flyers go back at it tomorrow afternoon at the Tim Horton's Iceplex with puck drop set for 2:00 p.m.
