No. 13 Nazareth Completes UCHC Series Sweep of Wilkes Women's Ice Hockey
ROCHESTER, NY – The Wilkes University women's ice hockey team completed its United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) series at No. 13 Nazareth University on Saturday afternoon with a 6-0 loss to the Golden Flyers.
With the loss Wilkes dropped to 6-6-1 overall and to 4-6-1 in UCHC play. Nationally ranked Nazareth improved to 7-4-1 overall and to 7-0-1 in the conference with the two-game series sweep.
Meredith Boettcher put the Golden Flyers ahead 3-0 after two periods of play with a hat trick. Nazareth added three more goals in the third period including one on the power play to earn the 6-0 victory.
Wilkes was 0-for-1 on the power play while Nazareth was 1-for-4. The Golden Flyers held a 43-17 lead in shots and 28-23 lead in the faceoff circle.
Jordan Ferry (Bohemia, NY) led Wilkes with nine faceoff wins, going 9-for-18 and
Rachel Morey (Buffalo, WY/) added eight wins, going 8-for-15. Ferry led the Colonels with five shots while Morey led the way with three blocked shots.
In her first start of the season
Addy Olson (Naples, FL/) made 37 saves for the Colonels between the pipes. McKinley Hoff earned the win for Nazareth with a 17-save shutout.
Wilkes continues UCHC play on the road with a series at Chatham University in Pittsburgh, Pa. next Friday and Saturday.
