Wilkes Men's Soccer Drop Senior Day Contest to Juniata

EDWARDSVILLE, PA - The Wilkes men's soccer team fell to Juniata 6-1 on Saturday afternoon for their senior day matchup. 

The Eagles had a strong start, recording three goals during the first half. The Juniata goals were scored by Jase Colino, who recorded two in the half, and Donovan Good. The Eagles opened the second half with a goal in the 54th minute by Shawn Tanaka as well as another goal four minutes later by Gavin Rauhut. The Colonels found the back of the net in the 73rd minute when Joseph Jackson (West Chester, PA/Bayard Ruston) recorded his first career goal to get Wilkes on the board. The Eagles recorded one last goal in the 80th minute by Victor Vandenbroek off a penalty kick.

In addition to Jackson, Will Wagstaff (Allentown, PA/Parkland), Kendall Heck (West Wyoming, PA/Wyoming Area High School) and Xavier Guerreiro (Newtown, PA/Council Rock North) all recorded shots during the game. In goal, Matthew Conti (Florence, NJ/Florence Township Memorial High School) made eight saves for the Colonels. 

Before the match, the Colonels celebrated the carrers of Guerreiro, Herbert Ramirez (Highstown, NJ/Highstown), Nick Romas (Collegeville, PA/Perkiomen Valley), Jesse Lippner (Mt. Olive, NJ/Mt. Olive), Kevin Doran (Cream Ridge, NJ/New Egypt), Matthew Meagher (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside), and Colin Schulmeister (Old Saybrook, CT/Old Saybrook) as part of the Sneior Day festivities. 

Wilkes will be on the road for their next game this Wednesday, October 16, at the University of Scranton. The game is set to begin at 7 p.m.
