Wilkes Women's Soccer Triumphs Over Juniata 2-1 in Senior Day Matchup

EDWARDSVILLE, PA - The Wilkes women's soccer team's impressive late game breakthrough led them to victory over Juniata on Saturday afternoon.

The game remained scoreless until the 79th minute of play when Juniata found the back of the net with a goal by Naomi Rich. The Colonels responded just a minute later with a goal of their own to even the match at one. The Colonel goal was scored by Sarah Eliff (Owings, MD/Northern) in a successful penalty kick attempt. Just four minutes later, Wilkes took the lead with a goal by Madison Straub (Franklin, NJ/Franklin), assisted by Eliff to secure the win.

Shots during the match were taken by Eliff, Straub, Katie Sites (Collegeville, PA/Spring-Ford Area), Holly Feese (State College, PA/State College Area), Jordyn Jennings (York, PA/Northeastern), and Jess Shea (Somerset, NJ/Franklin). All four of Eliff's shots were shot on frame as well as Straub's two. Amanda Lee (Middletown, PA/Middletown Area) started in goal, recording two saves, with Delaney Yaracs (Butler, PA/Butler) finishing out the remaining 21 minutes of the match, not needing to make any saves for the Colonels.

Before today's match, Sites, Feese, Jennings, Eliff, Olivia Kozlowski (Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero North Syracuse), Brooke Snopkowski (Havertown, PA/Haverford), Straub, Aliah Balch (Paupack, PA/Wallenpaupack Area), Julianna Askins (Carlisle, PA/Carlise), Alex Holmstrom (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford), and Lee were all celebrated as part of today's Senior Day festivities.
