Wilkes Women's Soccer Falls at Home against No. 22 Scranton 3-0
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes women's soccer team fell at home on Wednesday night, defeated by No. 22 ranked University of Scranton 3-0.
The Colonels fall to 4-7-3 on the year with a 1-2-2 record in Landmark play, while Scranton improve to 11-1-2 overall and remain undefeated in conference play at 5-0.
Scranton opened the scoring four minutes in and took a 2-0 lead into halftime after another goal in the 42nd minute.
In the 56th minute the Royals added another goal, but Wilkes' defense held strong and didn't allow another goal before the horn sounded.
First year goaltender
Delaney Yaracs (Butler, PA/Butler) made nine saves on the day.
Madison Straub (Franklin, NJ/Franklin) had the Colonels lone shot in the first half.
Emily Bannon was one of three Royals on the scoresheet and led the team with five shots and three on goal. In net, Nicole Olson did not record a save.
The Colonels return to Bruggeworth Field on Saturday, October 19 for their final home game of the season against Elizabethtown College at 1:00 p.m.
