SCRANTON, Pa. – The Wilkes women's soccer team competed in their final non-conference matchup of the season on Wednesday afternoon, falling at Marywood University 1-0.

The Colonels fall to 3-5-2 overall with the loss while Marywood improves to 7-3-1.

Wilkes survived the early Pacer attack, as the home team fired 11 shots with three on goal in the first half. First year goalkeeper Delaney Yaracs (Butler, PA/Butler) made three saves in the first 45 minutes.

Marywood broke the deadlock in the 61^st minute as Josephine Sorce scored to give the Pacers the 1-0 lead, assisted by Elena De Los Santos. Wilkes' first shots of the game came inside 10 minutes to go, but neither found the target before the full-time whistle blew.

Holly Feese (State College, PA/State College Area) and Jess Shea (Somerset, NJ/Franklin) were the two Colonels with shots on goal. In net, Yaracs made three saves in 45 minutes of play. Amanda Lee (Middletown, PA/Middletown Area) played the second half in goal for Wilkes and made three saves of her own, allowing the lone goal of the game.

Sorce led Marywood with four shots, two on goal, and the lone goal of the game. In net, Genevieve Morrison and Jenna Orr both played 45 minutes and neither recorded saves.

After a four-game road trip, the Colonels return home for their next contest, a Landmark Conference matchup with the Greyhounds of Moravian University on Saturday, October 5 at 1:00 p.m.
