Wilkes Field Hockey Falls to Lycoming 3-1
EDWARDSVILLE, PA - The Wilkes field hockey team fell to Lycoming 3-1 on Tuesday night.
At the end of the first half, Lycoming led 2-0. The two goals were scored by Riley Marines and Maggie Campbell, assisted by Lacey Eckard. Wilkes led in corners with six compared to Lycoming's two as well as in shots on goal with six while Lycoming had three, but were able to capitalize on their goal opportunities. In goal for the Colonels, Olivia Wickel (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) did not record any saves, however Courtney Keim had a defensive save. The Warriors goalkeeper recorded six saves in the first half.Â
Both teams recorded a goal in the second half, with Lycoming striking first. Marines added the Warrior's third goal of the game off a penalty stroke. Wilkes responded less than a minute later with a goal by Morgan Hermanofski (Shickshinny, PA/Northwest Area) assisted by Morgan Millard (Bloomsburg, PA/Bloomsburg Area). The Colonels added 18 shots on goal in the second half, with the Warriors goalkeeper recording 17 saves. Lycoming added two more shots on goal and Wickel recorded one save.
The Colonels will play next this Saturday, October 26 for their final home game of the regular season. They will face off against Catholic University at 4 p.m.
