First Half Goal Proves the Difference in Wilkes Women's Soccer Defeat at Lycoming
 
WILLIAMSPORT, PA – A Lycoming College goal at 36:36 of the first half proved to be the difference as the host Warriors held on to a 1-0 Landmark Conference victory over the Wilkes University women's soccer team Wednesday night at UPMC Field.
 
The Colonels slipped to 4-9-3 overall and 1-4-2 in league matches. Lycoming improved to 12-2-3 overall and 4-1-2 in conference contests.
 
After a scoreless start to the game, Abigail Umhoefer notched the game-winning goal with just under nine minutes remaining in the first half thanks to an assist by Mikayla Long.
 
Wilkes finished with five shots throughout the game, but were limited to just one in the second half of play while trying to post the equalizer.
 
Lycoming garnered 11 corner kicks to Wilkes' two attempts. The Warriors also held an 18-5 shot advantage with 12 coming on goal.
 
Delaney Yaracs (Butler, PA/Butler) finished with ten saves in the defeat for the Colonels while Riley Block earned the shutout win making on save for the Warriors.
 
Wilkes continues its road stretch on Saturday with another Landmark matchup at Catholic University starting at 1:00 p.m.
