Wilkes Women's Volleyball Bested by University of Scranton 3-0
SCRANTON, Pa. – The Wilkes women's volleyball team left the John Long Center still searching for their first win in Landmark Conference, as they fell to the University of Scranton in straight sets Friday night.
The Colonels fell to 4-17 overall with an 0-6 Landmark record. Scranton improves to 14-11 with a 6-0 record against conference opponents.
Wilkes fell in the first two sets 25-16 and 25-13, and kept a close third set with a late charge but ultimately fell 25-21. The Colonels recorded a match-high eight kills in the first set and had 21 total compared to 35 total kills for the Royals. Both Wilkes and Scranton had the most total attacks in the third set, with 26 and 34 respectively in the final frame.
Sierra Hines (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Holy Redeemer) led the Colonels with six kills, followed by
Kendra Kalp (Somerset, PA/Rockwood) with four.
Alexa Cassel (Mount Joy, PA/Lower Dauphin) served up 16 assists while
Ally Sheridan (Hanover Township, PA/Hanover Area) and
Annalyse Santowasso (Middlesex, NJ/Rutgers Prep) led the defensive efforts with five digs each.
Danielle Kramer led the Royal offense with seven kills, while Gianna Detorie had a team-high 14 assists. Defensively, Kassidy Means led the team with seven kills.
The Colonels are back in action tomorrow as they travel to Madison, N.J. to face off against Drew University and Arcadia University in a tri-match. The first game starts at 12:00 p.m.
