MADISON, N.J. – The Wilkes women's volleyball team were bested in two matches at the Baldwin Gym on Saturday afternoon, falling to hosts Drew University and Arcadia University in a tri-match.

With the losses Wilkes falls to 4-19 overall with an 0-7 record against conference opponents.

Game 1 – Wilkes 0, Drew 3
The Colonels dropped game one of the day in straight sets to the Landmark rival Rangers 25-18, 25-19, and 25-23. Both teams were dead even in kills with 20 each through the first two sets of the match, but the hosts edged out Wilkes with 13 in the final set as opposed to 10 from the Colonels. Drew also had 14 aces to six for Wilkes, and both teams recorded 42 digs in the match.

Jenna Baron (Nanticoke, PA/Greater Nanticoke Area) led Wilkes with nine kills, while Alexa Cassel (Mount Joy, PA/Lower Dauphin) dished out a team-high 15 assists. Cassel also led the defensive efforts with 13 digs, while Ally Sheridan (Hanover Township, PA/Hanover Area) also had double-digit digs with 11.

Emily Shirk led Drew with 10 kills, while Alyssa Rachwal delivered 26 assists. Genevieve Sarinelli posted a team-high 14 digs.

Game 2 – Wilkes 1, Arcadia 3
Wilkes fell to Arcadia in their second game of the day in four sets 25-14, 25-22, 15-25, and 25-19.

After dropping the first two sets, the Colonels avoided the sweep after taking a 9-1 lead early in the third set led by a great service stretch by Kendra Kalp (Somerset, PA/Rockwood) who also added a kill and a service ace in the run. Two late 4-0 runs by each team kept the Knights in the game 20-13, but the Colonels outscored Arcadia 5-2 to take the set on a Baron service ace.

The fourth set was a close fight, but with the score 20-18 in favor of Arcadia, the Knights went on a 5-1 run to win the set and claim the match.

Wilkes totaled 36 kills to Arcadia's 40 and remained close with 49 digs to 51 for the Knights. Sierra Hines (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Holy Redeemer) led the team with 13 kills in this match along with three blocks. Cassel had 21 assists while Lauren Lokuta (Mountain Top, PA/Holy Redeemer) had the team-high in digs with 11.

Nicole Dallara led Arcadia's offense with 12 kills, Bryana Saenz had 32 assists, and Hannah Sanchez had 13 digs.

The Colonels continue their road trip on Wednesday, October 30 as they face Delaware Valley University at 7:00 p.m.
