Wilkes Men's Soccer Fall to Catholic on the Road
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Wilkes men's soccer team was unable to hold down Catholic despite a strong first half performance on Saturday, with the final score being 4-0.
The score remained 0-0 after the first half, with Catholic recording 19 shots compared to Wilkes' zero. In the second half, the Cardinals added 14 shots and Wilkes recorded two. The strong Colonel defense could only hold the Cardinals at bay for the first 51 minutes of play, with Catholic's Andrew Lowman striking first in the 52nd minute with Ben Zimmer recording the assist. Holdon Woodings added two more goals in the 64th and 72nd minutes of the game with assists coming from Domenico Caltabiano and Michael Hanlon. The final Catholic goal of the game came from Hayden Lim in the final minute.
For Wilkes, both Will Wagstaff (Allentown, PA/Parkland) and Josey Williamson (Oley Valley, PA/Oley Valley) each got a shot off but were unable to find the back of the net. In goal, Matthew Conti (Florence, NJ/Florence Township Memorial High School) played for 68 minutes and recorded six saves and Owen Heale (Toms River, NJ/Toms River South) played the remaining 22 minutes and recorded two saves.
The Colonels will be on the road for their final road match against Goucher College next Saturday, November 2 at 3:30 p.m.
