Wilkes Women's Volleyball Drops Conference Opener to Susquehanna

SELINSGROVE, PA - The Wilkes women's volleyball team dropped their conference opener against Susquehanna on Friday, falling 3-0.

Susquehanna defeated Wilkes in three sets with scores of 25-13, 25-19, and 25-18. Coming in nearly even in all areas, the Colonels fell just short of a win in the three sets. Wilkes and Susquehanna both tallied 102 attacks, Susquehanna recorded 47 digs compared to WIlkes' 45 and the Riverhawks 37 kills over the Colonels 35. 

Leading the Colonels in kills was Sierra Hines (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Holy Redeemer) with nine, followed by Ally Sheridan (Hanover Township, PA/Hanover Area) with eight. Assists were led by Alexa Cassel (Mount Joy, PA/Lower Dauphin) with 23 and Annalyse Santowasso (Middlesex, NJ/Rutgers Prep) recorded a team high 15 digs. 

The Colonels will travel to Elizabethtown tomorrow, October 5, to play in a trimatch. Wilkes will face Elizabethtown at 12 p.m. and Alvernia at 2 p.m.
