Wilkes Men's Soccer Fall in Close Game Against Moravian
EDWARDSVILLE, PA - The Wilkes men's soccer team fell in a 1-0 loss to Moravian Saturday after a scoreless first half.
The game remained scoreless until the 72nd minute when Moravian's Ben Scary scored with a goal to the top left corner of the net, with an assist by Max Teneza. Wilkes nearly had the equalizer in the final seconds of the game with back to back corner kick attempts and a shot by Grant Gerstner (Carlisle, PA/Cumberland Valley High School) that almost found the back of the net.
Herbert Ramirez (Highstown, NJ/Highstown) led the Colonels in shots with four throughout the game, with two being on goal. In goal, Matthew Conti (Florence, NJ/Florence Township Memorial High School) recorded seven saves, many of them being crucial saves to keep the Greyhounds at just one goal.
The Colonels will be at home again this Wednesday, October 9, against Drew. The game is set to begin at 7 p.m.
