Wilkes Field Hockey Closes out Non-Conference Play at DeSales
 
CENTER VALLEY, PA – Host DeSales University broke open a 1-0 game at the half scoring four unanswered goals in the third and fourth quarters on way to a 5-0 non-conference victory over the Wilkes University field hockey team on Wednesday night.
 
Wilkes slipped to 2-10 overall closing out it non-conference part of the schedule. DeSales improved to 4-7 overall following the home victory.
 
Delani Remp scored the only goal of the first half when she found the back of the cage off a rebound of a saved shot at 10:05.
 
Remp added to the lead in the third quarter when she took a pass ahead from Maddie Trocki and beat Wilkes goalie Olivia Wickel (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) for the goal.
 
Trocki scored the Bulldogs third goal of the game after she ripped a shot from just inside the circle at 51:57. Megan McLain then closed out the scoring for DeSales at 58:42 pushing home a shot to the back post.
 
DeSales held a 24-12 shot advantage. The Colonels garnered eight penalty corners to DeSales seven attempts.
 
Wickel finished with nine saves in goal for Wilkes. Alyssa Schlossman recorded the shutout win for DeSales making seven stops.
 
Wilkes returns to Landmark Conference play Saturday with a road matchup at Juniata College scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
