Wilkes Men's Ice Hockey Remains Unbeaten in MAC Play Following 5-2 Win Over LVC
 
WILKES-BARRE – Leyton Pettypiece (Rochester, MI) and Nick Swain (Jackson, NJ) scored two goals each to lead the Wilkes University men's ice hockey team to a 5-2 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) victory over visiting Lebanon Valley College Friday night at the Toyota SportsPlex.
 
Wilkes improved its overall record to 4-1 overall and stand a perfect 4-0 in MAC contests. LVC dropped to 1-3-1 overall and 0-2-1 in league games.
 
Pettypiece got the scoring going for the Colonels in the first period scoring both of his tallies in the opening frame. He first struck :20 into the game thanks to a pass from Cole Jungwirth (Bloomington, MN), then pushed the Wilkes lead to 2-0 with his second goal of the period at 8:15 with a helper from Daniel Nau (Wake Forest, NC).
 
Lebanon Valley answered back with two goals over the final four minutes to end the first period as Harris Blackwood scored off an assist from Cade Freer at 18:45 to tie the game at two after Dylan Miller scored the Dutchmen's first goal of the game at 16:27.
 
Nick Swain (Jackson, NJ) ended the tie 4:56 into the second period scoring the Colonels first goal of the frame off the power play with assists from Cam Lowe (Lancaster, MA) and Judson McGrath (Dallas, TX). Patrick Roginski (Shelby Twp., MI) added to the lead with a goal off helpers from Lowe and McGrath as Wilkes led 4-2 after two.
 
Swain fired in his second of the game with less than three minutes left in the third with assists from Max Cocchi (Ludlow, MA) and Joe Johnson (Midland, MI) to seal the home conference victory.
 
Jack Perna (Sykesville, MD) recorded the win in net for the Colonels finishing with 34 saves.
 
The two teams meet again tomorrow with puck drop scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at the Toyota SportsPlex.
