Matchups for 2024 Chesapeake Challenge Bowl Series Announced

TOWSON, Md./FOREST, Va. – With the regular season now in the books, the Landmark Conference and Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) have announced the matchups for the second edition of the Chesapeake Challenge Bowl Series on Sunday evening.

Wilkes University will represent the Landmark Conference for the second year along with Moravian University, while Shenandoah University and Washington and Lee University will represent the ODAC.

Both games will be played at Salem Stadium in Salem, Va. next Saturday, November 23 at 1:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. All games will be streamed live on the ODAC Sports Network (https://odacsn.com).

Wilkes, the runner-up in the Landmark, will take on Washington and Lee who finished third in the ODAC to open the day at 1:00 p.m with the Cape Henry Bowl. Both teams represented their respective conferences in last year's Chesapeake Challenge, with the Colonels winning over Bridgewater College and the Generals falling to Lycoming College. In the 5:00 p.m. matchup, Moravian will face Shenandoah in the Cape Charles Bowl.

Admission to the Chesapeake Challenge bowl games is $15 for adults and $10 for minors (10-17). Children nine and under, and students, faculty, and staff from the Landmark and ODAC member institutions are free with school ID.

Wilkes finished 7-3 overall under first-year head coach David Biever with a 5-1 record in conference play, their only loss coming to Landmark champions Susquehanna University. The Colonel offense ranked second in the conference averaging 39.7 points per game and 211.9 rushing yards per game.

Moravian finished the regular season 6-4 with a 4-2 record against Landmark opposition, falling to Susquehanna as well along with a loss to Wilkes. Quarterback Jared Jenkins led the conference with 2,653 passing yards and 28 passing touchdowns as a part of the third-ranked offense in the conference averaging 27.1 ppg.

Shenandoah finished second in the ODAC at 8-2 overall with a 5-2 record in conference play, falling to conference champions Randolph-Macon College and Bridgewater. The Hornets boast the ODAC's highest scoring offense with 50 total touchdowns averaging 36 points per game.

Washington and Lee ended the regular season with a 6-4 record and a 5-2 record in conference play as well, falling to Salisbury University, Trinity University, Randolph-Macon, and Shenandoah. The Generals have conference leaders on both sides of the ball, with the ODAC's leading rusher Jacob Romero in their backfield and top tackler Jalen Todd captaining their defense.

The Landmark Conference, founded in 2005, and began competition in the fall of 2007, conducted its first-ever season of football sponsorship in 2023. In early February of 2022, the league's Presidents Council announced the addition of football as the Landmark's 23rd varsity sport.

The Old Dominion Athletic Conference is celebrating its 49th year of operation and sponsorship of Division III football. Football was one of 10 sports initially sponsored by the ODAC when it began NCAA competition in 1976-77.
