Wilkes Women's Basketball Falls to No. 16 Catholic in Landmark Play

WILKES-BARRE – No. 16 Catholic University raced out to a commanding halftime lead and never looked back on way to a 91-34 Landmark Conference victory over the Wilkes University women's basketball team Saturday afternoon at the Marts Center.

Wilkes fell to 0-6 overall and 0-2 in league play following the home defeat. Catholic improved to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in Landmark contests.

Catholic led 49-23 at the break pressuring the Colonels into 20 of their season-high 40 turnovers in the game. The Cardinals converted those miscues into 43 points throughout while shooting 24-for-39 from the foul line in a game that featured over 50 fouls.

The second half was much of the same as Catholic continued the  pressure defense throughout the final t20 minutes of play.

Nadia Evanosky (Dallas, PA/Dallas) led the Colonels with a season-best 14 points and six rebounds. Madison Robel (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) followed with seven points and six boards.

Anna Scoblick topped three double figure scorers for Catholic with 18 points and eight rebounds.

Wilkes contuses its home stretch on Tuesday when the Colonels welcome cross-town rival King's College for a non-conference matchup scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
