Wilkes Women's Basketball Drops Contest to King's
WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Wilkes women's basketball team fell to King's on Tuesday by a score of 44-54.
The Colonels trailed by 12 points after the first half, with Nadia Evanosky (Dallas, PA/Dallas) and Julianna Askins (Carlisle, PA/Carlisle) leading in points at six apiece. Evanosky also led in rebounds with five, as well as in assists with two along with two steals and a block. As a team, Wilkes went 6-29 from the field, 1-9 on three point shot attempts and 5-8 from the free throw line. The Colonels also recorded two of their points from turnovers, two fastbreak points, and eight points in the paint.
In the second half, the Colonels put up a strong effort to comeback, but ultimately fell by 10 points. Wilkes shot 10-29 from the field, 0-7 in three point shots and 6-8 from the free throw line. Overall, Evanosky led in points with 16 total, followed by Reagan Holden (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Wilkes-Barre Area) with eight. In rebounds, Madison Robel (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) led with 10 and Evanosky recorded eight. Evanosky also led with a team high three assists and five steals. The Colonels recorded 10 total points off turnovers, 26 points in the paint, and five total blocks compared to Kings' zero.
The Colonels will be on the road for their next match against Lycoming on December 4. The game is set to begin at 7 p.m.
