Wilkes Men's Ice Hockey Cruises Past King's in 7-1 Victory

WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Wilkes men's ice hockey team blew past King's on Saturday night to a 7-1 victory over the Monarchs.

The scoring began in the second period, with Daniel Nau (Wake Forest, NC) recording the first goal of the night for the Colonels, assisted by Patrick Roginski (Shelby Twp., MI). Just 20 seconds later, Nick Swain (Jackson, NJ) added another goal with an assist by Cam Lowe (Lancaster, MA). Less than three minutes later, Roginski tabbed a goal of his own with Miles Harrington (McDonough, GA) and Joe Johnson (Midland, MI) on the assists. Lorenzo Marcolin (Saratoga Springs, NY) netted another goal for the Colonels less than two minutes later, with assists by Leyton Pettypiece (Rochester, MI) and Nate Terski (North Grafton, MA) to give Wilkes a 4-0 lead in under five minutes. King's got on the board in the 17th minute of the second period to cut the deficit to 4-1. The goal was scored on a power play by Shota Kaneko and assisted by Kent Lee and Thomas Soucy. 

Wilkes scored two power play goals in the third period, one by Johnson in the 10th minute and the other scored by Harrington in the 17th minute. Christopher Paige (Massena, NY) and Johnson both picked up assists on the goals. Pettypiece scored the seventh goal for the Colonels in the final two minutes of the game with Marcolin recording the assist.

Overall, the Colonels recorded 46 shots during the game with Lowe leading the team in shots with six, followed by Roginski with five. Mason Vonk (West Olive, MI) and Judson McGrath (Dallas, TX) lead the team in blocks with two apiece and Nau, Cole Jungwirth (Bloomington, MN) and Carter Jordan (Fort Collins, CO) each had one. Duncan Rolleman (New Hamburg, ON/) recorded 25 saves during the game for a save percentage of .962.

The Colonels will be playing their home opener this Tuesday, November 12 against Arcadia at 6 p.m.
