WILKES-BARRE – Wilkes University standout football senior
Donell Mackey-Woodson (Hartford, CT/Southington) has been named to the Associated Press' Division III All-American Second Team, as announced by the organization Thursday afternoon.
Mackey-Woodson becomes the third Colonel to be named AP All-American, joining defensive end J.J. Fadden (1997, Second Team) and running back Brett Trichilo (2003, Second Team, 2004, Third Team) in earning the distinction.
The Hartford, Conn. native finished 2024 snagging a conference-best seven interceptions, the second most in Division III during the regular season. He posted eight pass breakups on the season, while also adding 44 total tackles and one for loss. Mackey-Woodson also had three pick-sixes on the year, including the game-winning return against St. John Fisher.
Mackey-Woodson grabbed almost as many awards as he did interceptions, being named to the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division III Coaches' All-America Second Team, D3football.com All-Region 2 Third Team, and the All-Landmark Conference First Team. He was also named to the D3football.com Team of the Week once.
