Wilkes Women's Ice Hockey Handles Stevenson in 8-2 Win

OWINGS MILLS, MD - The Wilkes women's ice hockey team had five different goal scorers as they breezed past Stevenson in a Friday night matchup, with a final score of 8-2.

Nina Hudakova opened the scoring in the sixth minute with the lone goal of the first period. Her goal was assisted by Jordan Ferry (Bohemia, NY). Stevenson responded in the ninth minute of the second period with a goal by Carleigh Barwick, assisted by Abby Smith and Kira Otto. Tally Wierdsma added a second goal less than a minute later, with assists by Gianna Pacilio (Franklinville, NJ) and Renee Ng (Hong Kong, China/Mount Academy). Amanda Spreadbury (Suwanee, GA) scored the third less than 30 seconds later, assisted by Chayce Hyndman (Mountain, ON) and Haylee Bouchard (Sioux Lookout, ON) added her first of the game in the 14th minute which was assisted by Rachel Morey (Clearmont, WY) and Hyndman. The Mustangs added a power play goal at the end of the second period, scored by Meghan Croyle and assisted by Megan Swick and Otto.

Bouchard added the first goal of the third period and her second of the night in the ninth minute of the third period, assisted by Ng. Ng added a power play goal just two minutes later, with IIda Laitinen and Megan Bell (Waterloo, ON) recording the assists. Bouchard added her third of the game and the teams seventh in the 15th minute of the third, assisted by Ng once again. Spreadbury rounded off the scoring for the Colonels in the 19th minute of the final period, assisted by Laitinen. 

Ng led the team in shots with 12 total, followed by Bouchard with eight and Spreadbury with six. Hannah Franz (North Bay, ON) recorded the team's highest plus/minus with a plus five, and Bouchard, Pacilio, and Hyndman each recorded a plus four. Wierdsma tallied two blocks and Ng had three assists. In goal, Audrey Milne (London, ON) had 10 saves during the game, for a .833 save percentage.

The Colonels will be back on the ice tomorrow, Saturday, December 7, against Stevenston. Puck drop is scheduled for 3 p.m.
