Wilkes Women's Tennis Wins 6-3 at Lycoming in Landmark Play
WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Wilkes University women's tennis team picked up its second Landmark Conference victory on Wednesday afternoon as the Colonels posted a 6-3 win at Lycoming College at Brandon Park.
Wilkes improved to 2-6 overall and 2-2 in league matches. Lycoming dropped to 0-8 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
The Colonels raced out to a 3-0 lead after doubles play then took three of six singles flights on way to the road conference decision. At No. 1 doubles
Cassidy Greenman (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees) and
Zoe Klein (Southbury, CT/Pomperaug) won 8-5.
Tea Amerise (Mountain Top, PA/Holy Redeemer) and
Kensington Edmond (Mount Joy, PA/Donegal) took their match at No. 2 by the score of 8-2 while
Ava Vacula (Exeter, PA/Wyoming Area Secondary Center) and
Karlee Yuscavage (Hanover Twp., PA/Hanover Area) earned an 8-6 decision at No. 3.
Amerise took her singles match at No. 1 by the scores of 6-1, 6-0 followed by Greenman's 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 2. Vacula then clinched the match at No. 6 with a 6-0, 6-1 decision.
Wilkes is back in action after the holiday break on Tuesday hosting Misericordia University at 3:30 p.m. at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
