Wilkes Women's Lacrosse Defeated by Marywood
EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. – The Wilkes women's lacrosse team were bested by Marywood University on Tuesday afternoon, suffering a 20-1 defeat at Schmidt Stadium.
The Colonels fall to 1-4 on the year with the loss, while the Pacers improve to 2-3.
Wilkes were blanked in the first half, as Marywood went into the half with a 14-0 lead.
Morgan Hettesheimer (Monroe Twp., PA/Tunkhannock Area) scored the lone goal for the Colonels with 14:31 remaining in the third quarter, her fourth goal of the season.
The Pacers then scored six unanswered goals en route to the 20-1 victory.
Keara Dugey (Kunkletown, PA/Pleasant Valley),
Lexie Nevel (Nescopeck, PA/Berwick), and
Brooklynn Donia (Sewell, NJ/Washington Township) led the team with three ground balls each, and Dugey led the team with two caused turnovers.
Samantha Scott (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) made four saves in her half of play, while Donia made two in the second half.
Kaitlyn Smith and Natalie Yilanjian led Marywood with five goals each, and Smith was the lone assist leader with four. In goal, Jenna Scala made seven saves.
The Colonels return to action on Saturday, March 9 as they travel to take on Stockton University at 1:00 p.m.
