Wilkes Women's Lacrosse Defeated at Stockton
 
GALLOWAY, NJ – Host Stockton University raced out to a 7-0 lead after one quarter and never looked back on way to a 16-1 non-conference victory over the Wilkes University women's lacrosse team on Saturday afternoon.
 
Wilkes fell to 1-5 overall on the season while Stockton remained unbeaten at 6-0 on the year.
 
With Stockton leading 7-0 after one, Wilkes' Morgan Hettesheimer (Monroe Twp., PA/Tunkhannock Area) put the Colonels on the board with their lone goal of the game scoring unassisted with 6:04 left in the second frame.
 
Stockton then added six unanswered goals in the third quarter and finished off the unmatched goals with two more in the fourth stanza on way to the home victory.
 
Stockton held a 40-2 shot advantage while forcing 35 Colonel turnovers. Wilkes struggled in clearing attempts finishing 4-for-18 on the day.
 
Ava Ward (Mount Pleasant, SC/Bishop England) posted a team-high eight ground balls and three draw controls.
 
Stockton saw seven different players reach the point column including a game-high six points for Mary Meduri (4G/2A).
 
Brooklynn Donia (Sewell, NJ/Washington Township) started and played the first quarter making one save for Wilkes. Samantha Scott (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) played the final three quarters in goal making nine saves.
 
Wilkes returns to action Wednesday with a road matchup at cross-town rival King's College starting at 7:00 p.m.
