Wilkes Men's Lacrosse Falls at Home to Susquehanna 22-6
EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes men's lacrosse team were bested at Schmidt Stadium on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Susquehanna University River Hawks 22-6 in Landmark Conference competition.
With the loss, Wilkes moves to 4-9 overall with a 1-5 record in Landmark play. Susquehanna improves to 12-2 overall and remains undefeated in conference play at 6-0.
Susquehanna opened the game with five straight goals to take an early lead before
Tim Hartka (Phoenix, MD/Calvert Hall) put the Colonels on the board with 5:51 to play in the first quarter to make the score 5-1.
Dillon Kadis (McSherrystown, PA/Delone Catholic) made it two straight goals for Wilkes just over a minute later with his eleventh of the year. The River Hawks added two more in the first frame to take a 7-2 lead at the end of quarter.
Susquehanna started the second the same way they started the first, putting up five unanswered to take a 12-2 lead. Kadis scored his second of the day with 3:21 remaining in the half to make it 12-3. Two more River Hawk goals gave the visitors a 14-3 lead going into halftime.
Wilkes scored their lone goal of the third with 8:35 remaining, as
Colby Opromolla (Patterson, NY/Carmel) fed
Austin Sosnovik (New Tripoli, PA/Northwestern Lehigh) for his sixteenth goal of the season to make it an 18-4 game.
The Colonels added two more in the fourth, back-to-back goals from
Tucker Parmer (Ephrata, PA/Ephrata) and
Anthony DelDuca (Westchester, NY/Westlake) to make it a 21-6 game. The River Hawks added one more goal to finish the game 22-6.
Kadis led the Colonels with two goals and two points, while Sosnovik led the team with four shots on goal. Parmer led Wilkes with four ground balls, while
Caleb Miller (Mohrsville, PA/Schuylkill Valley) made 13 saves in his first career start.
Jack Gaillard and Brenna Lorence led the River Hawks with five goals and eight shots each. Gaillard added a hat trick of assists to his day, while Garrett Laub led the team with 10 ground balls going 18-25 from the face off circle.
The Colonels return to action for their final home game of the year on Wednesday, April 17 against the University of Scranton at 7:00 p.m.
