Wilkes Men's Tennis Cruises to 7-2 Landmark Win Over Elizabethtown
ELIZABETHTOWN, PA – The Wilkes University men's tennis cruised to its second Landmark Conference win of the season as the Colonels posted a 7-2 decision at Elizabethtown College Saturday afternoon.
Wilkes improved to 4-5 overall and 2-3 in Landmark matches following the road victory.
The Colonels raced out to a 3-0 lead after doubles play thanks to wins from the pairs of No. 1
Angelo Guzman (Port Jefferson Station, NY/Comsewogue) and
Nathanial Rathe (Lincoln, NE/Lincoln Southeast) (8-3), No. 2
Connor Frey (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) and
Cole Riley (Louisville, KY/Xavier) (8-4) and
Sebastian Sylvester (Diego Martin, Trinidad and Tobago/The College of Lady Fatima) and
Drew Fiedler (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) ((8-2)
Guzman made light work at No. 1 singles winning 6-2, 6-3. Rathe won at No. 2 6-1, 6-2 and Sylvester went straight sets 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3. Riley was the final singles winner for Wilkes taking his No. 5 singles match 6-2, 6-1.
Wilkes continues Landmark action Tuesday with a match at the University of Scranton at 4:00 p.m.
