Wilkes Men's Tennis Scores 6-3 Victory at Scranton
SCRANTON, PA – The Wilkes University men's tennis team scored a 6-3 Landmark Conference victory over host University of Scranton Tuesday afternoon at the Royal Courts.
Wilkes improved to 5-5 overall and 3-3 in conference matches following the road win.
The Colonels led 2-1 after doubles play thanks to wins from
Angelo Guzman (Port Jefferson Station, NY/Comsewogue) and
Sebastian Sylvester (Diego Martin, Trinidad and Tobago/The College of Lady Fatima) at No. 1 (8-5) and
Nathanial Rathe (Lincoln, NE/Lincoln Southeast) and
Cole Riley (Louisville, KY/Xavier) at No. 2 (8-7/7-3).
Wilkes then recorded wins in four of six singles flights on way to the decision. Rathe won at No. 2 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 (8-6) in a back-and-forth match. Sylvester took his No. 3 singles match by the scores of 6-4, 6-1. Riley won at No. 5 6-0, 3-6, 7-6 (7-2) and
Donovan Zong (Bethlehem, PA/Salisbury Township) was victorious at No. 6 6-1, 6-4.
Wilkes returns to Landmark play tomorrow (Wednesday) hosting Drew University at TK Academy at 3:30 p.m.
