Wilkes Women's Soccer Victorious Over King's
WILKES-BARRE - The Wilkes women's soccer team extended their win streak to two this evening in a 1-0 victory over King's.
Although the Monarchs proved to be dominant in the first half over the Colonels, they were unable to find the back of the net with nine shot attempts, five of them being on goal. Amanda Lee (Middletown, PA/Middletown Area) was in goal for Wilkes and recorded five saves in the half. The Colonels had only one shot on goal during the half, taken by Erin Edwards (East Greenville, PA/Upper Perkiomen) in the 13th minute.
Things turned around for Wilkes in the second half, while the Monarchs had five shots over Wilkes' two, a mistake in the 70th minute by King's resulted in an own goal, giving the Colonels the lead. Lee added three saves this half, totaling eight throughout the game. The two shot takers for Wilkes in the second half were Jess Shea (Somerset, NJ/Franklin) in the 46th minute and Katie Clarke (Pennington, NJ/Hopewell Valley Central) in the 68th minute.
The Colonels will be back on the road this Saturday, September 14th at Lebanon Valley College. The game is set to begin at 4 p.m.
