Wilkes Women's Soccer Drops Road Contest
ANNVILLE - The Wilkes women's soccer team fell to Lebanon Valley College on Saturday afternoon after a hard fought battle, with a final score of 1-2.
The Flying Dutchmen outshot the Colonels in the first half 12 to five, but each team were able to record one goal in the half. Madison Straub (Franklin, NJ/Franklin) found the back of the net first, scoring in the fifth minute of the game, with the goal assisted by Sarah Eliff (Owings, MD/Northern). Lebanon Valley responded in the 10th minute on a penalty kick scored by Darrian Berkheimer. In goal, Amanda Lee (Middletown, PA/Middletown Area) recorded three saves in the half on four shots on goal.
The back and forth battle continued into the second half, with Wilkes recording four shots and Lebanon Valley recording seven. Lee recorded two saves on three shots on goal, with The Flying Dutchmen scoring their second goal of the game in the 69th minute of play to put them in the lead. Shots in this half were taken by Erin Edwards (East Greenville, PA/Upper Perkiomen), Katie Sites (Collegeville, PA/Spring-Ford Area), Katie Clarke (Pennington, NJ/Hopewell Valley Central), Eliff, and Kate Durig (Gambrills, MD/Mount de Sales).
The Colonels will be back at home this Wednesday, September 18 at 7 p.m. to face Albright College.
