Wilkes Women's Soccer Drops Lead to FDU-Florham
MADISON - The Wilkes women's soccer team fell to FDU-Florham on Saturday afternoon despite leading after the first half with the final score being 3-2.
The Colonels were leading after the first half 1-0 after a goal by Sarah Eliff (Owings, MD/Northern) on a penalty kick in the 11th minute of the game. The penalty kick came off a foul by FDU-Florham's Sofia Carrozza during a Wilkes corner kick attempt. The Colonels recorded five shots on goal in the first half. In goal for Wilkes was Delaney Yaracs (Butler, PA/Butler), who tallied seven saves in the first half and kept the Blue Devils scoreless.
In the second half, Wilkes was able to hold the Blue Devils at bay until the 49th minute of play when they recorded their first goal of the game. The Colonels responded 10 minutes later with a goal by Erin Edwards (East Greenville, PA/Upper Perkiomen) to regain the lead. FDU retook the lead over the Colonels in the 82nd minute with two goals scored in 20 seconds. In goal this half for Wilkes was Amanda Lee (Middletown, PA/Middletown Area) who recorded four saves.
The Colonels will face Widner for the next matchup on Wednesday, September 25 at 7 p.m. in Chester.
