Wilkes Women's Soccer Fall 1-0 at Widener
CHESTER, PA - After a scoreless first half, Wilkes women's soccer fell to Windener 1-0 on Wednesday evening.
In the first half, the Colonels had four shots, but were unable to find the back of the net. Shots were taken by Katie Sites (Collegeville, PA/Spring-Ford Area), Ava Young (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown West), Julianna Askins (Carlisle, PA/Carlise), and Hannah Dennison (Limerick, PA/Spring-Ford). Widener took three shots in the half, with goalkeeper Delaney Yaracs (Butler, PA/Butler) making one save.
Widener's Alyssa Carman struck in the 48th minute of play with a goal to the top left of the net to put the Pride on the board. Wilkes had two shots in the second half compared to Widener's eight shot attempts. Yaracs made one save on the three shots on goal in the half. Jess Shea (Somerset, NJ/Franklin) and Taylor Anthony (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) both added shots on goal this half but were unable to capitalize on the shot.
The Colonels will open conference play this Saturday, September 28, against Susquehanna in Selinsgrove. The match is set to start at 1 p.m.
