Wilkes Women's Soccer Ties William Patterson 2-2

EDWARDSVILLE - The Wilkes University women's soccer team tied to William Patterson on Wednesday evening with a score of 2-2.

In the first half, the Pioneers held majority possession throughout the half, producing many offensive opportunities. William Patterson was able to get six shots off, three on goal and recorded two goals. Both goals were scored by Lauren Hutchison, the first coming in just the second minute and the second followed in the 15th minute. The Colonels were able to produce two shots during the half, with one on goal. Shots were taken by Addi Parker (Canton, PA/Canton) and Erin Edwards (East Greenville, PA/Upper Perkiomen). Pioneers goalkeeper Sarah Mantilla and Wilkes goalkeeper Delaney Yaracs (Butler, PA/Butler) both recorded one save in the half. 

The Colonels came out with energy in the second half, putting more pressure on the Pioneers and generating more offense. Wilkes' effort rewarded them with two goals in the half to even up the playing field. The first Colonel goal was scored by Erin Edwards (East Greenville, PA/Upper Perkiomen) with a shot to the top left in the 59th minute, assisted by Jess Shea (Somerset, NJ/Franklin). The second goal for Wilkes was scored in the 64th minute by Taylor Anthony (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) to the bottom right. The Colones added seven shots in the second half compared to two in the first, totaling nine, and the Pioneers added five goals in the second to total 11. In goal for William Patterson, Mantilla added three saves, and Amanda Lee (Middletown, PA/Middletown Area) for the Colonels tallied two saves in the half. 

Wilkes women's soccer will be back home on Saturday, September 7 for their next match. They will face Alvernia at 1 p.m. at Bruggeworth Field.
