Wilkes Women's Ice Hockey Completes Season Sweep of Neumann with 6-1 Win

ASTON, Pa. – The Wilkes University women's ice hockey team extended their win streak to eight games on Friday night, giving Neumann University a 6-1 thrashing to complete a season sweep of the Knights.

With the win, Wilkes improves to 15-4 overall with a 13-2-0 record in MAC play, while Neumann falls to 4-11 on the year with a 3-9-3 record in conference play.

The Colonels opened the scoring ten minutes into the first as Gianna Pacilio (Franklinville, NJ) fired home the power play goal. Less than three minutes later, Bella Kaczorowski (Anchorage, AK/NAHA White) doubled the lead with a goal of her own. First year Megan Bell (Waterloo, ON/St. David Catholic) assisted both goals, with Savanna Maxon (Anchorage, AK/Alaska All-Stars) also picking up an assist on Kaczorowski's score.

Wilkes scored two more in quick succession in the second period, with Danielle Longuemare (Pembroke, MA/Portsmouth Abbey School) lighting the lamp for her fourth goal of the season with just 3:07 off the clock. Jordan Ferry (Bohemia, NY) then added another goal at 5:02 to extend the Colonel lead to 4-0.

Ferry added her second goal of the night in the third period with a shot at 4:26 to put Wilkes up 5-0. Late in the period, Neumann finally got on the board with a power play goal, but Nina Hudakova (Košice, Slovakia) would have the last laugh with a score in the final minutes to give the Colonels a 6-1 victory.

Ferry led the Colonels with two goals on five shots on goal, one of four Colonels with multiple point performances (Pacilio, Bell, Kaczorowski). Rachel Morey (Clearmont, WY), who extended her record for career games played with her 100th appearance tonight, led the team with eight wins from the faceoff circle along with Ferry. In goal, Emma Swansburg (Shelburne, NS/Shelburne Regional) made ten saves.

The Colonels return home to the Toyota SportsPlex for their next contest tomorrow against Stevenson University at 3:30 p.m.
