Wilkes Women's Soccer Settles for 1-1 Tie at Catholic

WASHINGTON, DC – Trailing 1-0 late in the second half, the Wilkes University women's soccer team fought back to tie the match with under 20 minutes remaining on way to a 1-1 Landmark Conference tie at Catholic University Saturday afternoon at Carlini Field. It marked the third consecutive tie for Wilkes in conference play dating back to October 4.

Wilkes now stands at 4-4-5 overall and 0-1-3 in Landmark play. Catholic owns a 5-6-2 overall mark and are 2-1-1 in league matches.

After a scoreless first half, Sam Cesario scored for the host Cardinals 1:50 into the second frame.

Catholic held onto its one goal lead until the 70:22 mark when Lauren Lefchak (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) sent a ball to Jaedyn Schouten (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown East) who picked a great time for her first collegiate goal tying the match at one.

Catholic held a 19-4 shot advantage while garnering seven corner kicks to Wilkes' three attempts.

Delaney Yaracs (Butler, PA/Butler) played all 90 minutes in goal for the Colonels finishing with three saves. Catholic's Ava Rieger made one stop for the Cardinals.
