Wilkes Women's Volleyball Falls to Scranton in Three Straight Sets
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes women's volleyball team falls to 14-15 on the season and 2-6 in the Landmark Conference after losing to the University of Scranton in straight sets Friday night.
Scranton improves to 18-10 overall and 7-1 in Landmark play.
Both teams matched each other for the first half of play in set one and two, but Scranton posted a huge ten-point run in both to secure the set wins with the final score of 25-15 for both sets. The Royals kept the momentum into set three taking an early 11-5 lead, and was able to hold the lead to finish the set, 25-16. The Colonels recorded 22 kills and 42 digs on the night.
Leading the offense for Wilkes was
Ally Sheridan (Hanover Township, PA/Hanover Area) and
Mia Leon (Ponce, PR/Caribbean) who both had six kills on the night.
Maddy Durfee (Buffalo, NY/Attica) and
Rachael Anderson (Canmore, AB/West Island College) matched each other with nine assists, while
Annalyse Santowasso (Middlesex, NJ/Rutgers Prep) led the defense with 14 digs.
Lauren Angelucci led Scranton in kills with 12, while Cammi Quirk recorded 18 assists to lead the passing game, and Camryn Hoffman had 13 digs on the night.
The Colonels return home for their last set of games of the season, against Drew University and Ramapo College, Saturday, Nov. 1, with the first serve starting at 12:00p.m.
