Lewis Named Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week
TOWSON, Md. - Wilkes University men's swimming team junior Owen Lewis (Ellicott City, MD/Howard) was named Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week for his performance in the team's win over Goucher College, as announced by the conference this afternoon.
This is the first time he's received the honor in his collegiate career.
Lewis was instrumental for the Colonels in a dominant 159-32 win over the Gophers on Saturday, winning every event he participated in. He won the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 23.25 to start the day, and followed it up by winning the 100 yard freestyle with a 53.06. Lastly, he helped the Colonels take first place in the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:31.29.
Overall, he contributed 29 points to the team and helped the Colonels improve to 6-0 in the regular season and 2-0 in Landmark Conference play.
Lewis and the Colonels return to the pool on Friday, Nov. 21 for the Electric City Invitational hosted by Marywood University. The invitational starts at 5 p.m. and will last the entire weekend, ending on Sunday, Nov. 23.
