FREDRICK, Md. – The Wilkes University women's ice hockey team picked up a decisive road victory Friday afternoon, defeating the Blazers of Hood College 4-0 at Skate Fredrick.

Wilkes improves to 5-1-0 overall and 4-1-0 in MAC play, while Hood falls to 1-2-2 overall and against conference opponents.

Chayce Hyndman (Mountain, ON/) opened the scoring 11 minutes into the first period, lighting the lamp for the second time this season. The junior defender doubled the lead with 13:43 left in the second on the power play, with Tilly Wierdsma (New Hartford, CT) adding a third two minutes later on another power play to make it a 3-0 game.

Late in the third period Danielle Longuemare (Pembroke, MA/Portsmouth Abbey School) netted her first goal of the season to make it a 4-0 game, sealing the win for the Colonels.

Hyndman led the team with two goals on nine shots, with three shots on goal. Renee Ng (Hong Kong, China/Mount Academy) led all skaters in total shots with 14. Six different Colonels registered assists on the afternoon. Drew Hayhurst (Breckenridge, CO/New Hampton School), Megan Bell (Waterloo, ON/St. David Catholic), and Haylee Bouchard (Sioux Lookout, ON/) all had two blocked shots each, a team high. In goal, Audrey Milne (London, ON) made 20 saves in the victory.

Sofie Ancona led the Blazers with eight total shots, putting four on net. Dakota Ormiston and Meghan Savage led all skaters with four blocked shots each. In goal, Maggie Grijalva made 46 saves.

The Colonels complete the home-and-home series with the Blazers tomorrow, November 22nd, at the Toyota SportsPlex. Puck drop is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
