Head Coach Hynes Earns 100th Coaching Win in Wilkes Men's Ice Hockey's 4-1 Victory over Cortland

CORTLAND, N.Y. – Two goals inside the first three minutes of play lifted the Wilkes University men's ice hockey team to a 4-1 victory over Cortland State on Tuesday evening, earning head coach Tyler Hynes his 100th career coaching victory.

Wilkes improves to 6-1-2 overall, while the Red Dragons fall to 4-4-1.

Christian Blomqvist took advantage of a scramble in front of the net to fire home the day's first goal after just nine seconds, taking the early lead. At 3:00, Matt Carlson (Delmar, NY/) capitalized on a turnover with a pass across the front of goal to Cam Lowe (Lancaster, MA/) who finished to put Wilkes up 2-0.

After a quiet second period, Nate Terski (North Grafton, MA/) added to the lead with a power play goal at 8:38 in the third, rifling a shot from the blue line past the goaltender to make it 3-0 Colonels. Four minutes later, Carter Jordan (Fort Collins, CO/) took advantage of a spill from the goaltender to light the lamp for the fourth time.

The hosts quickly responded with their first goal of the game, but it wasn't enough as Wilkes took the victory 4-1.

Four different Colonels found the back of the net, with Carlson and Jack Lee (Naperville, IL) each registering two assists on the day. Carlson led the team with six shots. Defensively, Terski and Patrick Roginski (Shelby Twp., MI/) each blocked a team-high three shots. In goal, Duncan Rolleman (New Hamburg, ON/) made 38 saves.

Colby Seitz was the lone goalscorer for the Red Dragons with Ronan Mobley making 18 saves between the pipes.

The Colonels return to the ice on the other side of the Thanksgiving holiday, as they travel to Elmira College to play the Soaring Eagles on Saturday, November 29th at 4:00 p.m.
